Siemens, a global leader in smart infrastructure solutions, recently announced its investment in
Emporia Energy, a leading pioneer in smart home energy management solutions. This strategic
investment aims to revolutionize residential energy monitoring and efficiency, while empowering
homeowners with cutting-edge technology to optimize their energy consumption and costs.
Siemens, in collaboration with Emporia, previously launched the Inhab® Energy Monitor
solution that provides real-time insights into home energy usage. The device enables
homeowners to track power consumption across appliances, including EV chargers and solar
generation systems, while offering actionable recommendations to reduce costs and improve
efficiency.
“Our evolving relationship with Emporia underscores Siemens’ commitment to driving innovation
and creating greater value for our residential customers that have a growing need for smart
home energy management,” said Jacob Middleton, Head of Residential Electrical Products at
Siemens Smart Infrastructure USA. “Combining Siemens’ strength in power distribution and
circuit protection with Emporia’s expertise in developing a suite of Smart Home Energy
Management hardware and software offerings allows for both companies to advance our
combined commitment to transform smart home energy management.”
Electrification of home appliances and vehicles is increasing both demand on and complexity of
the traditional electrical system, driving up costs of installation and ongoing homeowner utilities.
Additionally, homeowners are left with the challenges of managing multiple power sources to
optimize their energy consumption. In 2024, Siemens unveiled Inhab®, a growing suite of
Intelligent Habitat solutions built to give homeowners more transparency and control; address
increasing electrical demands, complexities, and costs; and save homeowners, builders, and
contractors money.
“Siemens’ investment is a major milestone for Emporia and a strong validation of our approach
to smart home energy management,” said Shawn McLaughlin, CEO of Emporia Energy. “Together, we’re making it easier and more affordable for homeowners to understand and automate their energy use—while also building the foundation for a smarter, more resilient grid.”
