Job Description
We handle hundreds of support requests a day through a variety of channels including email, web form submissions, in-app/web chat, phone, and social media. These support requests can range from pre-sales questions about how our products work to live diagnostics and troubleshooting of devices and everything in between. Important to have an understanding and empathetic voice to communicate with customers, especially those who might be frustrated with a sub-optimal experience with our product. Most communications are related to the specific behavior of our products, but some general questions about power/energy, residential electrical systems, Internet of Things related topics will be submitted. As we continue to grow the company and product portfolio, some of additional topics of customer discussion will include electric vehicles, home batteries, residential solar production and more.

- Provide technical leadership as Emporia grows from 220k deployed devices to millions of connected devices
- Spend 50% of your time developing firmware and 50% mentoring and supporting the other firmware engineers

- Design products with focus on thermal management, reliability, and ease of installation
- Optimize product design for manufacturability, cost, assembly, and tooling
- Drive reliability testing, including root cause and failure analysis
- Collaborate with firmware, electrical, and manufacturing engineers to support products from early concept, through development and launch, and until end-of-life
Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years experience successfully designing complex products as a mechanical engineer or related role
- BS in mechanical engineering
- Multiple examples of leading projects from concept into mass production, with extensive on-site factory experience with contract manufacturers
- Strong working knowledge and proven design experience of injection molding, CNC machining, sheet metal, aluminum die casting and extrusion, cosmetic part finishes and mass production processes
- Expertise in design and documentation processes with SOLIDWORKS and SOLIDWORKS PDM
- Experience with thermal analysis and associated thermal management design techniques (passive and active)

Job Description

The Operations Program Manager (OPM) at Emporia is responsible for the operational management and support of all hardware products, both in development and sustaining. You will coordinate with multiple disciplines inside and outside of Emporia to ensure supply continuity, implement quality control plans and perform regular audits, and optimize production against projected sales demands.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary interface between Emporia and OEMs to ensure supply chain continuity, quality control, and execution against development and production timelines
- Drive production to meet Emporia’s sales forecasts
- Work cross-functionally to ensure programs smoothly transition from development to mass production
- Work closely with Emporia teams (Engineering, Customer Support) and manufacturing partners to evaluate and mitigate quality risks through an established Product Quality Plan
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years industry experience as a project manager or similar role in product manufacturing operations
- Multiple examples of leading projects into mass production and through EOL, including extensive on-site factory experience with overseas and domestic contract manufacturers
- Experience with supply chain management, including pricing negotiations at all levels of the Bill of Materials
- Experience defining, implementing, and auditing quality control processes with manufacturers and distributors
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High level of proficiency in problem solving and issue resolution using G8D, Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, etc.
